EISD Community
Since its establishment in 1953 and as an independent Organization from 1977. EISD has come to be recognized as a Centre of dialogue in ecumenism to research and study. An important feature of our Institute is its coverage of many major areas of relevance to current socio-religious challenges and issues.
This is an autonomous Institution designed to promote ecumenical research and to strengthen the capacity for Inter-faith dialogue in order to bring about mutual understanding amongst the religious institutions as a means to mobilize the potentials of religious values to study and interpret to strengthen human development.
Hence this is an inter-denominationally represented Institute, and it works with Christian and other religious organizations as well. In that sense, the work programs of EISD has a wider ecumenical dimension. We also associate with inter-national Organizations such as, World Council of Churches (WCC), Christian Conference of Asia (CCA) World Students Christian Federation (WSCF) and South Asia Forum for Freedom of Religion or Belief (SAFFORB).
Also in local level we associate with National Christian Council of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) Theological College of Lanka Pilimatalawa (TCL) and Tulana Research Centre in Sri Lanka.
Our 13 member Board of Management represents different Church denominations. Full time Director is also a member of the Board and serves as the Secretary to the Board.
